"Goldfinch on Birch Texture" by Patti Deters. This yellow Goldfinch (Spinus tristis) is perched on a birch tree branch, looking back at the camera with a bit of a sassy look on her face. These little songbirds are seen all year round in the Midwest USA, and the bright yellow and black feathers indicate it is springtime which is when they really stand out in their breeding plumage.
