Description
"Tundra Swan Flight with Texture" by Patti Deters. These two Tundra swans (Cygnus columbianus) were flying close together as they circled in the air getting ready to land. You can tell these birds are tundra swans, sometimes called whistling swans, because of the small yellow spot on the beak although not all of these large white birds have the yellow spot. Tundra swans have smaller bodies and shorter straighter necks than the Trumpeter or Whooper swan, with which they are often confused. Regardless, they are lovely to watch as they gracefully fly overhead. Several textures have been applied to obscure the sky and to add a bit of dreaminess to the image.
