"Blue Hyacinth Macaw Flight" by Patti Deters. A lone Blue Hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) flies over calm blue seas with a full moon at her back. These birds are the largest of the flying parrots with a wingspan of up to 16 inches and a weight of about three (3) pounds. They can fly at up to speeds reading 35 miles per hour! Hyacinth Macaws are known for their very strong jaws which they use to crack open the variety of tough nuts that are their diet. I photographed this beautiful bird at a zoo, then created and applied my own digital textures and artwork.
