“Bison Bull Meadow” by Patti Deters. This huge male buffalo rests in a pretty meadow with wildflowers and grasses. The horns on this bison were huge and his thick, dark brown, woolly fur was starting to show signs of molting. When they fight, males clash heads using the matted fur to cushion the blows. Hard to believe these beasts can run up to 35 miles per hour! Their shoulder hump is mostly muscle which lets them use their heads to plow through winter snows.
