Description
"White Sands National Park - Yucca Bloom" by Patti Deters. Yucca (Yucca filamentosa) is a hardy desert plant and is seen here flowering at the top of a white sand dune in White Sands National Park, New Mexico. Huge white dunes of gypsum sand have covered 275 square miles of desert, creating the world's largest gypsum dunefield. The yucca plant, also known as Adam's needle, is in the plant family Asparagaceae and is native to the southeastern United States. This simple minimal photo is comprised of just three subjects - the white sand dune, the clear blue sky, and the tall flowering yucca - it is presented here with a vertical crop.
