Description
"Toucan on a Tree" by Patti Deters. This cheerful and bright Toucan is perched on a tree branch, taking a break and just enjoying the view. The toucan has a vibrant yellow and orange red beak with and dark body feathers and colorful blue and orange eye. The tree branch itself has a bit of texture and the bird is set against an aqua teal background. Toucans are colorful birds that are native to Central and South America and are known for their large, colorful bills, which are used for a variety of purposes, including feeding, defending their territory, and attracting mates. Their bills are perfectly adapted for picking fruit off of branches, and they are also able to reach fruit that is out of reach of other birds. Toucans are known for their loud, raucous calls, which they use to communicate with other toucans. They also use body language, such as fluffing up their feathers, to communicate their mood or intentions. In addition to their large bills, which help them feed, they also have zygodactyl feet, which means that two of their toes point forward and two point backward. This helps them grip branches and move through the trees more easily. Overall, the image is really striking and captures the beauty and majesty of this amazing bird. It's the kind of artwork that can transport you to a tropical paradise and make you feel like you're right there with the toucan, enjoying the sights and sounds of the jungle.
