"Painted Turtle Close-up" by Patti Deters. I had to lay flat on the ground on my stomach to get this angle of view. The Painted Turtle (Chrysemys picta) was eyeing me closely, but didn't seem overly bothered by either me or the camera. Did you know that turtles are considered a reptile and are classified as Chelonia. They they are cold-blooded which means they cannot maintain body temperature, which is why they are often seen sunning themselves.
