Description
"Framing The Mittens - Monument Valley" by Patti Deters. These ancient geological rock formations at Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park are something special to see. The sandstone towers are huge, with the tallest reaching 1,000 feet high! This area is not officially designated as a National Park since it sits within the Navajo Nation Reservation along the Arizona-Utah border, but is every bit as stunning and majestic. Desert scrub and sand cover the ground. This desert driftwood tree was found at GPS 38°10'3.834N, 109°44'37.728W and with a little bit of planning, I was able to frame three of the orange rock formations, knows as mitten buttes. I really like how you have the barren tree both a central aspect of the image and the frame for the more popular subject…exceptional compositional technique!
