"California Scrub Jay" by Patti Deters. The California scrub jay (Aphelocoma californica) is a species native to western North America ranging from southern British Columbia throughout California west of the Sierra Nevada. The California scrub jay was once grouped with the island scrub jay, Woodhouse's scrub jay, and Florida scrub jay but is now a separate species. This pretty blue and white bird can become tame and will eat at birdfeeders and has especially adapted to restaurant parking lot food scraps. Hi! My artwork is photography of all things nature, especially wildlife, flowers, and landscapes. Many of the flowers and wildlife images are from my local area around Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. Others are from photo trips taken with my husband of 40+ years. Some of the images are what I like to call "documentary art" - that is, I capture the best photos from wherever I am and then enhance them - sometimes a little, sometimes a lot - to make my own kind of "real life" art. Other images are more digital and simple, and those tend to portray the softer side of nature.
