Description
"Three Roseates in Flight with Texture" by Patti Deters. Three Roseate Spoonbills (Platalea ajaja) take flight from the marsh waters of the Florida Everglades National Park. Roseates are often described as gregarious and are from the ibis and spoonbill family, Threskiornithidae. These interesting water birds are listed as 'least concern' on the endangered lists, but I certainly have a difficult time finding and photographing them. Their pink feathers, red eyes, and ivory beaks make them unique in the world of wildlife and wading birds in particular. This lovely trio were spotted in the Everglades National Park in Florida.
