Description
"Trumpeter Swan Fly By" by Patti Deters. A large white Trumpeter Swan (Cygnus buccinator) is seen with her wings spread, preparing to land in the misty cold water of the St. Croix River on a dark winter morning. There are several more swans just to camera left but it looks as if she is doing a fly by past the ducks and swans that are settled near the snow covered island. Winter is a great time to view these beautiful birds as they tend to come closer to shore in areas where the water isn't frozen.
