Description
“Sandhill Cranes Face Off” by Patti Deters. Two female prehistoric-looking waterfowl (Grus canadensis) got into a territory fight over who should be “fishing” where. There was plenty of space in this back-water wetland, but the area near the shore with the grasses and reeds and shallow water seemed to be the most desirable. These two birds are adults as you can tell by the black legs and the red patch on the forehead. Plumage (feathers) for these prehistoric looking birds comes in varying shades of grey, cream, tan, and brown. Several textures have been added to create a frame of blended greens and orange which enhance the autumn feel.
